SHORT‑FORM VIDEO EDITOR
As a Short‑Form Video Editor at
Social Imprint, your job is to transform raw footage into engaging, high‑performing social media videos. You will take client‑recorded content and turn it into polished short‑form videos designed to capture attention, hold retention, and perform across platforms like Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
You'll work closely with the Social Media Strategist to understand the purpose of each video and the client's overall goals. From there, you'll edit content that communicates the message clearly while keeping the pacing, energy, and structure optimized for social media.
You will have access to Google Drive folders where clients upload raw footage. Your responsibility is to consistently turn that raw material into professional, social‑ready content while meeting deadlines and maintaining Social Imprint's quality standards.
This role is about more than editing clips together. It's about understanding how short‑form content works and crafting videos that stop the scroll.
What You'll Do
- Edit raw client footage into engaging short‑form videos for platforms like Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
- Access and organize client footage from Google Drive folders.
- Turn talking‑head videos, educational clips, and listing content into polished short‑form edits.
- Repurpose existing videos or long‑form content when clients do not provide enough new footage.
- Create faceless videos using strategist‑provided ideas, scripts, or concepts when needed.
- Ensure all edits are completed on schedule so the content calendar stays on track.
- Work closely with the Social Media Strategist to align edits with client goals and messaging.
- Collaborate with the broader creative team when necessary to maintain consistency across content.
Required Editing Skills
You must understand how to edit specifically for
social media performance, not just general video production.
Editors should be comfortable creating:
- Fast‑paced social media edits
- Jump cuts that maintain strong pacing
- Hook‑driven openings within the first 3 seconds
- Clear captions and subtitles
- B‑roll overlays that reinforce the message
- Zoom cuts and motion cuts
- Strategic sound effects
- Light motion graphics when appropriate
Your edits should feel clean, modern, and optimized for attention and retention.
TOOLS & AI USAGE
Editors are free to use the editing software they work best in. Experience with tools such as CapCut, Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro is welcome.
However, AI Proficiency Is Required For This Role.
Editors should know how to use AI tools to improve editing quality and speed, including:
- AI auto‑caption tools
- AI clip extraction tools
- AI‑generated or assisted B‑roll
- AI support for hook ideation
- AI‑assisted editing workflows
- Automation tools that improve editing efficiency
AI should be used as a way to enhance workflow and output quality while maintaining a human creative standard.
WORKLOAD EXPECTATIONS
Editors will typically manage
20–40 short‑form videos per month per client, depending on the account and content strategy.
Editors must be able to manage their workflow efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining a consistent quality level across all edits.
What We Look For
YOU UNDERSTAND SPOKEN ENGLISH (B2–C LEVEL)
Because most of our content is educational and talking-head based, you must be able to clearly understand spoken English. Editors should be comfortable identifying the strongest moments in conversations, clipping sentences so they make sense, and creating captions that accurately reflect the speaker's message. B2 to C-level English proficiency (or equivalent) is expected.
YOU UNDERSTAND SOCIAL MEDIA
You know how short‑form platforms work and how viewers behave. You understand pacing, hooks, and storytelling for short attention spans.
YOU THINK LIKE A CONTENT CREATOR
You can identify the strongest moments in footage and turn them into compelling clips that make sense and keep viewers watching.
YOU'RE FAST AND RELIABLE
Deadlines matter. You consistently deliver edits on time and help keep the content pipeline moving.
You Care About Quality
You take pride in clean, professional edits that reflect well on the client and the Social Imprint brand.
What Success Looks Like
- Short‑form videos maintain strong viewer retention.
- Hooks immediately capture attention within the first seconds of the video.
- Edits are clean, professional, and consistent across clients.
- Videos are delivered on time and keep the content schedule moving.
- Content supports the client's goals and aligns with the strategist's direction.
